Morris Retiring From Christian County Schools September 30

Following 30 years of service to Christian County Public Schools, assistant superintendent Laura Morris has announced her retirement — effective September 30.

Morris began her career with Christian County Public Schools in 1991 as an elementary teacher at Highland/Pembroke Elementary before moving into a myriad of roles: curriculum specialist, Pembroke Elementary principal, director of personnel and eventually to her current post.

A graduate of Murray State University and Austin Peay State University, Morris said she’s looking forward to spending time with her husband, Mark, son, Carter and daughter-in-law, Holly, in retirement — and that it’s her belief that high-quality education is the best gift educators can give students.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel noted Morris’s calm demeanor and wisdom were major benefits when the district was faced with challenges and opportunities to improve, and that one of the district’s most-admired administrators will be sorely missed.

In the interim, Jessica Addison — current Christian County Public Schools Director of Instruction — will serve in Morris’s stead until a permanent successor has been appointed.
