Hopkinsville Man And Woman Charged With Drug Possession

A traffic stop for speeding on Russellville Road in Hopkinsville led to drug charges for Hopkinsville man and woman Thursday night.

Hopkinsville Police say 37-year-old Joshua Colwell was stopped for going 5 mph over the speed limit and during the stop he and his passenger 32-year-old Heather Ballard were found to have several active warrants. After removing a child from the vehicle, police say they located five needles, meth, 15 grams of heroin, and a digital scale inside the vehicle.

Ballard was also found to have buprenorphine pills along with meth and a glass pipe.

Colwell was charged with speeding and trafficking heroin. Ballard was charged with giving officers false identifying information, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, and possession of meth.
