A traffic stop on US 68 at the Interstate 24 intersection led to an Illinois couple being charged with receiving stolen property Sunday afternoon.
Cadiz Police say 25-year-old William Finney and 28-year-old Tara Williams were found to be in a vehicle that had been reported stolen. During the traffic stop, Tara Williams allegedly gave law enforcement a false name and date of birth. She was also found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and two pill bottles belonging to the owner of the vehicle.
They were both charged with receiving stolen property. Tara Williams was also charged with possession of marijuana and a controlled substance.
William Finney was charged with operating on a suspended or revoked license, failure to maintain required insurance, and no registration plates.
