A Cadiz woman was charged with DUI and criminal abuse after a wreck on Horseshoe Drive Wednesday afternoon.
Trigg County Sheriff’s deputies say they were called to the area for a vehicle that had hit a mailbox and ran off into a ditch. The driver 33-year-old Megan Alesell was located walking down the road with two children under 4-years-old.
Deputies say they could smell the odor of alcohol coming from Alesell and after questioning her she admitted to taking a few shots and being on numerous prescription medications.
A bottle of vodka was reportedly found between the driver’s seat and door. During the investigation, she allegedly admitted to tossing trash out of the vehicle.
Deputies say a folded dollar bill was found in her vehicle with a white powder inside it. Alesell is charged with DUI, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, criminal littering, third-degree criminal abuse, and leaving the scene of an accident.
