Underwood Trial Date Set For July 2022

A trial date has been set for Dustin Underwood, who is charged with attempted murder, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and being a persistent felony offender, in connection with a May 2020 stabbing in southern Trigg County.

In Wednesday’s pretrial conference in Trigg County Circuit Court, Judge C.A. Woodall selected July 18, 2022 as the trial date for the Cadiz native.

The Commonwealth and Underwood’s public defender, Mary Rohrer, are still working toward resolution, and as such Woodall tabbed December 8 for another pretrial conference.

Underwood was first convicted of second-degree attempted arson in 2019, involving a crime committed two years prior. While on parole, Underwood was booked by police on new charges — and allegedly used a knife to cut a man’s jawline during the May 2020 fight.

According to the Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins, Underwood isn’t even eligible for new parole until April 2022, putting his new trial date after a possible release.
