Active Trigg COVID Cases Have Doubled In Past Week

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Trigg County has doubled in the last week with the younger population making up one-third of the new cases.

The Pennyrile District Health Department reported 50 active cases in Trigg on Thursday. None of the 50 have required hospitalization. There were 25 active cases in the county on July 29 and just nine active cases on July 22.

Of the 59 new cases reported in the past two weeks, one-third or 20 of them involve people 18 and younger. None of them are reported as hospitalized.

In the five-county health department district that also includes Caldwell, Lyon, Crittenden, and Livingston counties, there are 212 active cases with 12 people hospitalized.

The case increase mirrors the statewide trend that has seen the state’s testing positivity rate increase since early June.
