Cadiz Man Charged After Nearly Striking Deputy With Vehicle

A Cadiz man was charged with wanton endangerment after he allegedly struck a deputy with his vehicle in Christian County Saturday afternoon.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say Major Jason Newby was in his personal vehicle with his son when 18-year-old Daeyontae Thompson almost hit them causing Newby to run off the road to avoid a head-on collision. Newby followed Thompson into the Great Oaks subdivision and identified himself as a deputy and showed his badge before Thompson drove his vehicle towards Newby causing him to have to jump out of the way.

Another deputy later located Thompson on Pin Oak Drive and he was identified as the person that fled from Newby.

He is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of marijuana.
