The Hopkinsville Division of Parks and Recreation has selected a former Kentucky New Era reporter to be the next Marketing-Events Coordinator for the Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex, Rec Department, and Public Works.
The department reported Monday that Taylor Duke would serve in the role, with her primary responsibility developing social media, marketing, and sales for the sportsplex and other Parks and Recreation events and facilities.
They added Duke would work out of the sportsplex offices and serve as a Public Information Officer for the city’s Public Works Department.
Duke said she’s excited and that taking the role is a dream.
Duke has a sports background from her collegiate career at the University of the Cumberlands, where she participated in track and field and was a member of the dance and cheerleading squads. She is also an award-winning journalist from her time as editor of the school’s newspaper and served as a freelance social media consultant, including working on social media for the Hopkinsville Brewing Company.
Tab Brockman, Parks and Rec Superintendent, said Duke was selected from a field of 39 applicants from five states that included 12 from Hopkinsville.
She will begin her duties on August 2, replacing Chris Jung, who left in June to accept a similar position with Jennie Stuart Health.
