A trial date has been set in the case against a former Hopkinsville High School band director facing sex-related charges with a minor in 2019.
Seth Peveler was indicted in June 2019 on four counts of third-degree rape, four counts of third-degree sodomy, and second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor. His wife and former Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, Hannah Peveler, was indicted on three counts of tampering with a witness.
During a pretrial conference in Calloway County Tuesday afternoon, Special Circuit Judge James Jameson set a final pretrial conference for the Pevelers will be at 12:30 December 7th. However, the former band director will be tried first set to begin January 5, 2022.
Special prosecutor Dennis Foust tells the News Edge all they wanted to do Tuesday was to get a solid court date because this case either needs to be resolved or go to trial.
He says although the pretrial matters are being held in Calloway County, Foust says the trial will take place in Christian County.
The charges against Seth Peveler were lodged in May 2019 after he allegedly allowed a student to smoke marijuana and then had sexual intercourse with the female. More charges were lodged against Peveler after other students came forward to share their stories with investigators. The sodomy charges accuse Peveler of having deviate sexual activity with a student or students on four occasions. He resigned as band director in May 2019.
Peveler’s wife, Hannah, is accused of attempting to induce witnesses to not testify against her husband and resigned from the Christian County Commonwealth Attorney’s office in June 2019 after she was indicted by a grand jury.
