U.S. 62 Resurfacing Work Begins Friday In Lyon County

A contractor with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to start milling and asphalt paving along a section of U.S. 62 in western Lyon County Friday morning.

District 1 spokesman Keith Todd says the work zone for the paving project runs from the U.S. 62 Cumberland River “Eureka Highway” Bridge near Lake City and extends eastward to near the KY 810 intersection at Suwanee, a distance of about 3.7 miles.

The contactor plans milling on Friday and Saturday with paving to start on Monday, with the work expected to be completed in about a week, weather permitting.

Motorists should be alert for one-lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. Todd indicates some delays are possible when equipment is being moved and put in place to facilitate work.

Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
