A man was killed and a second was injured in a home invasion on South Vine Street in Hopkinsville Thursday morning.
Hopkinsville Police say the preliminary investigation revealed a man armed with a gun forced his way into the home and the homeowner got into a fight with the man.
During the fight, the owner reportedly choked the suspect and was hit several times with the gun before it discharged.
The suspect was allegedly found deceased inside the home when police arrived. The homeowner was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for head injuries.
It is unclear at this time if the suspect was shot when the gun went off during the fight.
The incident happened just after midnight.
