Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting of Dawson Springs Teen

Authorities have made an arrest in connection to the shooting death of a Dawson Springs teenager early Tuesday morning.

State police report 19-year old Michael A. Roche was arrested at his residence in Dawson Springs Wednesday and charged with complicity to murder in the death of 16-year old Dakota Carter.

According to state police, troopers responded to Hosick Avenue in Dawson Springs around 1:20 Tuesday morning and found Carter had suffered a gunshot wound. He was transported to Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville and then flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee where he died from his injuries.

Carter was an employee at the Princeton McDonald’s.

According to jail records, Roche was booked into the Caldwell County Jail around 9:00 Wednesday night  Police on charges of cultivating marijuana (five plants or more), possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of a minor, and a warrant out of Hopkins County.

Detectives say this investigation is ongoing and encourages anyone with information to contact Kentucky State Police.
