New Hope Road To Be Closed For Up To A Month

Officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet say it will take three to four weeks to complete repairs of a damaged box culvert that forced a section of KY 525/New Hope Road in Trigg County to close last week.

New Hope Road has been closed between Freeman Road and Meador Cemetery Road about one mile south of the KY 139/South Road intersection since May 13.

District 1 spokesman Keith Todd says starting this week the Trigg County Maintenance Crew will remove decking and beams from the top of the box culvert. Early next week, he says the KYTC District 1 Bridge Crew will start the process of installing new beams and decking.

Once the top culvert is replaced, Todd says the approaches will be paved to match the elevation of the new deck.

According to Todd, engineers are optimistic the repairs can be completed in three to four weeks, weather permitting.

The roadway will remain closed until all work is completed.
