Republican Leaders Want Governor to Set Reopening Date

While Kentucky continues to ease certain COVID-19 restrictions concerning masks and attendance at gatherings, Republican leaders say it’s time for Governor Andy Beshear to set a date to fully reopen the state.

Minutes after Beshear said Kentucky would follow CDC guidelines and not require fully vaccinated people to wear a mask indoors or outdoors in most cases, Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles said in a social media post that it’s time for the state to reopen.

9th District State Representative Myron Dossett concurs with Quarles and other leaders who want a reopening date set.

Dossett said the lack of a reopening date is another in a series of missteps by the governor.

The New York Times reported this week that Kentucky is one of nine states that has not set criteria to fully reopen. None of the other eight states border Kentucky.
