Christian County Board of Health Approves Roof Replacement

The Christian County Board of Health approved the health department’s 2021-22 budget during Monday evening’s meeting.

After over an hour of discussion on the budget, the board approved one that includes a three-percent raise and a possible two-percent lump sum bonus for staff members who receive a highly commendable on their annual staff evaluation. Employees who receive a proficient and commendable on their evaluation would get a one-percent lump-sum bonus.

The original plan brought to the board included a five-percent raise for staff members.

A majority of the discussion concerning the budget involved the raises for staff, which health department director Kayla Bebout said were carefully considered before being brought to the board.

The board had three options to choose from concerning the staff raises and bonuses.

In other action, board members approved to amend the current budget to include the cost of replacing the health department’s roof. Administrative Services Coordinator Devin Brumfield said the roof leaks every time it rains, and as the renovation project is nearly complete, it’s time to consider the project.

Brumfield added they are working with a local architect to get bid packets together for it.

The estimated cost for the roof project is around $270,000. The board voted to amend the current budget and add the project, with $300,000 set aside for it.
