Dr. Young Receives Passing Evaluation From HCC Board

Dr. Alissa Young

The Hopkinsville Community College board of directors presented College President Dr. Alissa Young with a positive evaluation during Monday afternoon’s meeting.

Board chair Richard Nelson told Dr. Young she met or exceeded expectations in 11 out of 13 areas covered in the evaluation.

Nelson shared the areas the board is requesting her to work on.

Nelson added during the board self-evaluation, there was one area they felt they needed to improve upon. That included board involvement in the strategic planning process and being updated on the progress with regard to planning and priorities.

The board also learned that the college had 621 students fewer than the 2020 Spring semester. Chief Student Affairs Officer Angel Prescott said they did have some good news, as there was a more than a three-percent increase in student retention from the fall to spring semester.

In other action, the board approved the 2021-22 fiscal year budget, which showed estimated revenues of nearly $15.9 million.
