A downtown Hopkinsville dry cleaning business is under new ownership.
Tim Goodaker, the previous owner of Model Cleaners, tells the News Edge he met new owner Robby Mills after his equipment broke down and they had to depend on Henderson-based Nu-Look Cleaners to finish the job.
Nu-Look Cleaners opened in Henderson in 1950 and has expanded to several locations. Mills says by purchasing Model Cleaners, they can expand their footprint in western Kentucky.
Model Cleaners has been operating in Hopkinsville since 1911, with Goodaker running the business for over 46 years. When asked what he will miss the most, he says his customers.
Mills adds Hopkinsville is growing, and they are excited to be a part of the community.
As for Goodaker, his first priority in retirement is getting his knees fixed.
Goodaker says Model Cleaners will continue to operate at 1117 South Main Street and offer the dry cleaning drop-off and pickup service at Consignment World in Cadiz.
