Trigg Schools To Offer Virtual Option For Next School Year

As state guidance has been released, officials at Trigg County Public Schools are putting together a virtual school option for 6-12th grade students for the 2021-22 school year.

Superintendent Bill Thorpe told board members last week he was recently a part of a retreat where Kentucky Commissioner of Education Dr. Jason Glass answered questions about the program.

James Mangels, the Director of Personnel and Student Services, will oversee the virtual school.

Mangels said they would have criteria for students who apply, including success in the virtual model during the pandemic.

Mangels is asking parents of students in grades 5 through 11 to go to the school district’s website and take the short learning environment survey before the end of this week.

Students enrolled in the virtual school will not be allowed to participate in sports or other extra-curricular activities.

There are currently 188 high school students and 99 from the middle school taking virtual classes at Trigg County.
