Governor Beshear Announces Area School Highway Safety Projects

Governor Andy Beshear announced Wednesday $23 million in funding committed for school highway safety projects.

Beshear’s office said the safety projects would protect students, educators, and families.

Projects in the region include; Kentucky 115 at Pembroke Elementary and Kentucky 117 at South Christian Elementary in Christian County and Kentucky 181 at Kentucky 507 near North Todd Elementary, and Business 68 at Todd County Middle School.

All four projects will go through the design process next fiscal year, and construction will begin in the 2022 fiscal year.

The projects in Christian County, which would create turn lanes at both schools, will cost around $1.1 million.

The project at North Todd Elementary involves making improvements to the roadway, while the Todd County Middle School project includes constructing a westbound turn lane. Both Todd County projects will cost around $1.3 million.
