Beshear Says Vaccination Hesitancy In Western Kentucky

With over one-third of the state’s population receiving at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, there are still thousands of open appointments available to Kentuckians who want one.

Governor Andy Beshear said Thursday that 3,000 fewer Kentuckians were vaccinated last week which represented a third straight week of a decline. He said there are 1,000 vaccination openings at the Christian County Health Department’s regional site at the Bruce Convention Center. Beshear said there is more vaccination apathy in western Kentucky than other regions of the state.

click to download audioKentucky reported 645 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday and announced 16 deaths. Only three of the deaths occurred in April and nine were from 2020 that are the result of the state’s ongoing COVID fatality audit.
