Expired Registration Leads To Drug Charges In Cadiz

An expired registration led police to meth and marijuana at the Red Roof Inn in Cadiz Sunday night.

Cadiz Police say they located a vehicle with expired registration and another with no plate parked at the hotel.

As they were investigating the owner of the vehicles Ann Ortiz reportedly came outside to get her dog and admitted to traveling with her fiance 34-year-old Joshua Lewallen.

Police say Ortiz gave them consent to search the vehicles and meth, marijuana, and syringes were found.

Ortiz was reportedly found to have an out-of-state warrant and Lewallen was found to have an active emergency protective order on him from Ortiz.

Lewallen was arrested and charged with possession of meth, violation of emergency protective order, and possession of marijuana. Ortiz’s warrant was a non-extradition warrant.
