Interstate 24 Truck Fire Still Causing Traffic Delay

One of the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 was closed until at least 10:30 Sunday morning to allow crews from E-3 Environmental to clean up following an early Saturday morning tractor-trailer fire.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says cleanup crews have remained on the scene through the day working to remove the trailer and debris resulting from the fire.

Trigg County emergency personnel say the tractor-trailer was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.  Firefighters were called back to the scene late Saturday afternoon when the fire re-ignited as the cleanup crew was starting to move the remnants of the trailer. The truck was reportedly hauling gear oil.

One westbound lane remains blocked at the 60-mile marker as crews work to clean up the scene following the fire. There are no reports of any injuries at this time.

Montgomery firefighters were assisted by the Princeton Fire Department.
