Kentucky Individual Income Tax Return Filing Deadline Extended

At Governor Andy Beshear’s direction, the Kentucky Department of Revenue has extended the tax filing deadline for individual income state tax returns to be in line with the federal tax return date.

Beshear said the deadline will now be Monday, May 17.

Beshear added individual taxpayers who need additional time to file beyond the May 17 deadline could request a Kentucky filing extension until October 15. To get an extension, taxpayers must file Kentucky Form 740EXT, but if filing for an extension, you must pay any taxes due by May 17, or you will be charged interest and other penalties.
