An incident on Chesnut Street near Murray State University forced the school to shelter in place for a short time Tuesday morning.
Sgt. Andrew Wiggins with the Murray Police Department said they responded to the 1500 block of Chestnut Street in reference to a report of shots fired. The department is actively investigating the incident and is asking people to avoid the area as it continues.
Murray State University President Bob Jackson said multiple victims were transported to area hospitals. It’s not believed the individuals were students or had any affiliation with the college.
