Wanted Oak Grove Teen Arrested In Lyon County After Abandoning Stolen Vehicle

Authorities say an Oak Grove teen out on probation for a robbery conviction was arrested on an active warrant in Lyon County Thursday night after he reportedly abandoned a stolen vehicle on Interstate 69.

Lyon County Sheriff Brent White reports law enforcement responded to assist a stranded motorist around 7:20 p.m. on Interstate 69 near the 71 mile-marker. He says a Kentucky State Police trooper was the first to arrive and found the SUV was unoccupied and had been stolen out of Oak Grove.

According to Sheriff White, a male subject was seen walking southbound near the area and was later located by Deputy Joe Witherspoon and Evansville Police Officer Shannon Oliver at the Eddyville 2nd Baptist Church off KY 3305 near Pebble Creek subdivision. Sheriff White says when the male was detained he was armed with a handgun that was also reported stolen.

During KSP’s investigation, Sheriff White says they identified the offender as 18-year old Isaiah Campbell who had an active arrest warrant out of Christian County District Court.

KSP charged Campbell with abandonment of a vehicle on a public roadway, receiving stolen property (auto) under $10,000, receiving stolen property (firearm), hitchhiking on a limited access facility, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Campbell was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

At the time he was taken into custody, Campbell was reportedly on state probation for a second-degree robbery conviction out of Christian County Circuit Court.  Campbell was charged with robbery as a 15-year-old in 2018 for pulling a gun and robbing another juvenile of money and a phone at school.  Campbell was charged as an adult in the case and given a 10-year prison sentence at the time.
