Kentucky Expanding 1C Vaccine Phase To Include More People With Underlying Health Conditions

Kentucky Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack announced Thursday they are expanding the state’s 1C vaccination plan to include more residents 16 or older with underlying health conditions.

Dr. Stack said the new update follows all of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidance and will start Monday.

The updated 1C phase includes all of the “might be” conditions on the CDC list, except for smokers.

The guidance comes after Governor Andy Beshear announced 910,353 Kentuckians had received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine as of Thursday afternoon.

Beshear also confirmed 1,211 new COVID-19 cases and 37 deaths.
