Hopkinsville Man Charged After Early Morning Pursuit

A Hopkinsville man was charged after he fled from deputies on Cadiz Road in Christian County Thursday morning.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they attempted to stop 24-year-old Tavarious Mathews just after 1 am for expired tags and he fled leading them on a pursuit. Mathews was eventually stopped at Walnut Street after spike strips were used. Authorities say Mathews fled from Paducah Police before he was taken into custody by Christian County deputies.
He is charged with reckless driving, improper registration plate, first-degree fleeing or evading police, and 8 counts of disregarding a traffic control device.
