Genesis Express Creating Black History Book

Genesis Express is compiling historical stories of locals for Black History Month.

President George Radford asked that people would give them information on family members they want to honor.

He said you can bring that information to Genesis Express or contact them and they can pick it up from you.

Radford shared a story of Cadiz-native Lander McCoy Bacon, who Radford came to know after he spoke at a Genesis Express anniversary celebration. Bacon’s aunt still lives in Cadiz, and Radford said her favorite memory of Bacon was of him playing with her son.

Bacon played football through high school and attended Jackson State University in Mississippi.

He went on to play for the Houston Oilers as a defensive lineman and was a member of what was considered the best defensive line in the NFL at the time.

Bacon had a passion for kids and serving his community. After his football career, he worked with the youth in his Ohio community in various capacities.

Radford said Bacon never forgot where he came from and visited Cadiz and his family often.
