Princeton To Host 33rd Annual Western Kentucky Evangelism Conference

A local church will be hosting the 33rd annual Western Kentucky Evangelism Conference on Monday, March 1st.

The conference at Southside Baptist Church in Princeton will focus on the Kentucky Baptist Convention’s “Gospel to Every Home” (GTEH) initiative and include a lineup of speakers familiar to Kentucky Baptists.

Chip Hutcheson with Kentucky Today said the pastor of Southside, Kyle Noffsinger, noted the schedule has changed this year as five of the six speakers will preach an hour sermon while an out-of-state guest will preach twice.

According to the article written by Hutcheson, the conference is intended to help fuel Kentucky Baptists’ evangelism efforts, including the statewide “Gospel to Every Home” initiative to place the gospel in the hands of more than 1.7 million homes in the commonwealth. He says local associations are working with the Kentucky Baptist Convention to help churches adopt homes and then reach them with the good news of Jesus Christ. Hutcheson indicates many of the more than 2,300 Kentucky Baptist churches have adopted neighborhoods to make sure every home is covered.

Speakers at the conference include:

— Kenny Rager is a former pastor who has held the position of evangelism strategist for the Kentucky Baptist Convention since June, 2019.

— Tim Beougher is the Billy Graham professor of evangelism and church growth in the Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism and Ministry at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he also serves as associate dean. He pastors West Broadway Baptist Church in Louisville.

— Kara Blackard is a retired pastor now serving as staff evangelist at Wheeler Grove Baptist Church in Corinth, Mississippi. He also is a frequent speaker at conferences and revivals across the south.

— Todd Gray is the executive director-treasurer of the Kentucky Baptist Convention. He was elected on August 1, 2019 to lead KBC, the state’s large protestant denomination.

— Hershael York is dean of theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, a position he has held since 2018 who is also the Victor and Louise Lester professor of Christian preaching, a position he has held since 1999.

— And Don Mathis is a former pastor of Southside at Princeton. Hutcheson says Mathis holds the distinction of being the only person in the last 50 years to be elected KBC president twice.

The conference on March 1st is a day-long event, with sessions starting at 9 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church and is sponsored by the Caldwell-Lyon Baptist Association, led by director of missions Rick Reeder.
