State Testing Positivity Rate Lowest Since October

Kentucky’s testing positivity rate for COVID-19 has dropped below six percent for the first time since October.

The state announced 1,306 new cases of the coronavirus Wednesday and has now topped 400,000 since the first case in the commonwealth nearly one year ago.

The testing positivity rate of 5.9-percent was the lowest since October 27. The number of people hospitalized was under 900 for a third straight day – also a first since late October.

The 228 people in the ICU for treatment is the fewest since October 25.

The state announced 51 deaths Wednesday, the most since February 5.
