Trigg’s COVID Incidence Rate Drops To Five-Month Low

As Kentucky’s COVID-19 case total and testing positivity rate continues to drop, so are the county incidence rates.

Trigg County’s new case incidence rate Friday of 7.8 per 100,000 population makes the county a yellow county for only the third time and is the lowest since September.

Lyon County has been a yellow county for two straight days after a Friday rate of 7.0 as reported by the state. Lyon was in the yellow range for five straight days in October.

Christian County’s incidence rate of 12.4 was the seventh straight day out of the red, while Todd County has been out of the red 15 days this month after recording a 15.1 rate Friday.

On the flip side, Caldwell County has been out of the red only four days this year and saw its rate rise from 23.5 Thursday to 56 per 100,000 population.

On Friday, the state reported 1,993 new cases of COVID-19 which is the most in 10 days. However, the state testing positivity rate was back below 7-percent at 6.8-percent.

The state reported 923 people hospitalized while positive with COVID-19 — the fewest since October 27.

There were 28 new deaths announced Friday, bringing the total for the month in Kentucky to 656, which is 141 more than the same time last month and 221 more than the same point in December.
