Police Seeking Public’s Help In Death Of Dawson Springs Man

Kentucky State Police are asking for the public’s help in attempting to identify the driver or company of a tractor-trailer who hit a Dawson Springs man found dead on the side of Interstate 69 earlier this month.

Trooper Brandon McPherson says from evidence recovered at the scene they believe the semi is a white 2018-2022 Freightliner Cascadia with damage to the front passenger headlight assembly and hood.

McPherson says the driver of the Freightliner hit 29-year old Michael “Andrew” Dowd between February 4th and February 7th on the southbound side of Interstate 69, near the 103-mile marker near Nortonville in Hopkins County.  He says it’s possible that the commercial vehicle driver did not realize they hit a pedestrian and may have suspected they struck an animal or object.

Any commercial vehicle company with damage sustained, involving the replacement of the passenger headlight assembly and hood are asked to contact Kentucky State Police Post 2 at 270-676-3313.

Dowd was reported missing on Thursday, February 4th after state police said he was last seen around 1:00 that morning at a residence on Wells Road in Nortonville. He was found deceased off of the southbound lanes of travel near the 103-mile marker on I-69 in the early morning hours on Sunday.
