Christian County Tops 6,000 COVID Cases But Seeing Considerably Slower Spread

The spread of COVID-19 has slowed considerably in Christian County despite passing the 6,000-case threshold.

The Christian County Health Department reported 12 new cases Tuesday with just 75 reported in the past week. The county’s incidence rate as defined by the state was 17.6 cases per 100,000 population, the fourth straight day it was out of the ‘red’. Christian County saw six straight non-red days in late September and early October.

It took Christian County 45 days to go from 5,000 COVID cases to 6,000. It only took 17 days to move from 4,000 cases to 5,000 cases. The county’s first 1,000 cases nearly a year ago came over a period of 63 days.
