State Senators Frustrated By Lack Of West Kentucky Vaccine Access

First District State Senator Jason Howell says he is frustrated by the lack of access to the COVID-19 vaccine in Western Kentucky.

During the Legislative Update Program that airs Sundays on 96.5 and 100.9 WHVO Senator Howell says he thinks the health departments in each county are best equipped to distribute vaccines instead of through public partnerships in the private sector.

click to download audioOn Saturday, Trigg County Hospital administrator John Sumner announced the hospital would be receiving 200 to 300 vaccine doses per week to distribute. He said the hospital will learn more details about the vaccine and what group can receive it sometime this week. Sumner says the hospital has not yet been declared a regional vaccination site by the state.
