Kentucky to Receive 15,500 Additional COVID-19 Vaccines Next Week

Governor Andy Beshear said Kentucky will be receiving a six-percent increase in COVID-19 vaccines next week although impending winter weather this week will likely close some vaccination sites.

That means an additional 15,500 doses of the vaccine will be sent to Kentucky next week, bringing the total to 71,675.

The reported 2,339 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday with the testing positivity rate remaining at 7.6-percent. Beshear said he doesn’t think the recent vaccinations are having an impact on the state’s case numbers.

click to download audioNumbers released Monday showed people in the 60 to 69 age group are among the lowest to get the COVID-19 vaccine. They fall into Group 1C which also includes people with high-risk conditions and remaining essential workers. Beshear didn’t say when group 1C would start getting vaccinations.
