Christian County Sees Fewest Active COVID Case Total Since November

Christian County’s active COVID-19 case total is the lowest since November with all four age demographics showing a decrease from Tuesday.

Information released by the health department Wednesday showed 408 active cases of the coronavirus Wednesday. That’s the fewest since November 18.

Amanda Sweeney with the health department said they are continuing to provide COVID-19 vaccines at the Bruce Convention Center to those who fall in Phase and 1B. She said no date has been provided on when Phase 1C will begin.

The health department has vaccinated over 4,000 people, including medical providers, health care workers, first responders, school personnel, and people over 70. The state is currently in Phase 1A, which is medical providers and health care workers, but as more vaccine is received and additional doses become available, the health department will continue to include those in Phase 1B.

Sweeney said 800 school personnel have received their first dose of the vaccine.

She also said people have called the health department to make an appointment and those slots have been full. Vaccine appointments are opened for scheduling once they receive their batch of vaccines. Sweeney said the health department has created a website for the most up-to-date information on vaccine schedule availability.
