A Madisonville woman was arrested Saturday in connection to a man being shot and flown to an Evansville hospital.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies responded to a call of a possible shooting around 11:00 Saturday morning at 179 Liberty Church Road in Madisonville. When deputies arrived at the home they found 66-year old William Matheny had been shot and the suspect had fled the scene.
Deputies say 48-year old Tara Skaggs was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after they learned she was the shooting suspect during the investigation. Skaggs was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail charged with first-degree assault – domestic violence.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Anton Volunteer Fire Department, Kentucky State Police, the Madisonville Police Department, and Medical Center Ambulance Service.
The investigation is ongoing.
