Christian County Report Record-High COVID Numbers in Two Age Groups

While Christian County did not top 100 new COVID-19 cases for a third straight day Thursday, the health department’s report included a record-high of infected people in the 21 and under age group.

The 114 people 21 and under is the most ever for Christian County and the most since December 10.

According to the school’s COVID reporting dashboard, there are 21 students and 29 staff in the school system with an active case of COVID-19. That’s an increase of five students and 13 staff since Tuesday.

Christian County also has a record number of people in the 22 to 59 age group infected. As of Thursday, that total was 457 which is the first time its ever been over 400.

There are 186 people between 60 and 85 infected, and 15 that are over 85. The state’s reporting website said Wednesday there were two long-term care facilities in Christian County with at least 10 active cases of the virus. That’s in addition to 65 active cases at Western State Hospital and 34 at the Western State Nursing Facility.
