State Reports Lowest Monday Case Totals In A Month

 

Kentucky reported 1,802 new COVID-19 cases Monday, which the state says is the fewest for a Monday in a month.

27-percent of the new cases came from Jefferson and Fayette counties.

The state’s positivity rate was 8.5-percent — the 11th straight day it remained under 10-percent.

While hospitalizations linked to the coronavirus have dropped four percent this month, the number of patients infected with the virus in intensive care has remained mostly unchanged.

Kentucky reported 17 deaths Monday marking 16 consecutive days of double-digit deaths linked to the virus.

In Christian County, the health department reported 101 new cases since Friday. For the first time, the number of active cases involving the 60 to 84 age demographic topped 200 active cases at 206. The number of people under 21 infected dropped to 94.

According to the state’s COVID-19 reporting website, there were only 18 active cases involving staff and residents of long-term care facilities in Christian County.

The health department reported 663 active cases Monday with a recovery rate of 79-percent.
