Details Released In Parkway Tanker Truck Crash

Pennyrile Parkway was closed for several hours after a tanker truck wreck caused a large diesel fuel spill Saturday morning.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say James Jackson was northbound when his vehicle ran off the road causing it to overturned several times just north of the McLean Avenue exit.

Jackson was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center by ambulance for a head injury and was treated and released on Saturday.

All north and southbound lanes were closed for 14 hours as authorities worked to contain 3,900 gallons of diesel fuel that spilled into the median.

Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet Executive Director John  Mura say they have an emergency response team in Hopkinsville Monday meeting with the environmental contractor to evaluate the flood basin and the spill area.

The crash happened just after 3 am.
