Christian County COVID Cases Reach New High in 60+ Age Group

Christian County’s active COVID-19 case total hit a record high Wednesday with the number of residents 60 and over infected with the virus topping 200 for the first time.

The Christian County Health Department reported 648 active cases — a third straight day that number has topped 600.

In the age breakdown, there were 201 people over the age of 60 with the virus while 77 active cases involved kids 19 and under.

According to the state’s COVID-19 website, there are seven active cases involving residents of long-term care facilities in Christian County and six involving staff members. They have also reported 31 of the county’s 52 COVID-related deaths have come from the facilities.
