Beshear Does Not Foresee Extending Restaurant Closure

Governor Andy Beshear said Monday he does not foresee extending the executive order that closed indoor dining at restaurants and bars to extend past this weekend.

Beshear urged the Commonwealth to ‘do their part’ this week.

Beshear said studies prove COVID-19 is widely spread in businesses where people are eating and drinking without masks on. Stacy Roof, president of the Kentucky Restaurant Association, said they have repeatedly asked Beshear for the state-specific data that backs his claim, but he refuses to release any.

If not renewed, the executive order expires end of day Sunday and restaurants will open to limited capacity to be determined by the state.
