Woman Sought For Questioning In Murder Case Arraigned For Auto Theft

A woman who was wanted for questioning in connection to a September Trigg County murder was arraigned in Trigg District Court Tuesday morning for a non-related case.

District Judge Natalie White said Keisha Stewart, of Cadiz, is facing two separate charges of vehicle theft. Stewart told Judge White that Danny Hicks would represent her in both of those cases with a preliminary hearing for the newest charge scheduled for Tuesday morning, December 15, at 10:00.

A pretrial conference for the other charge was held immediately after, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for the same time next week.

Stewart was arrested for the latest theft charge on Friday night, December 4, after Trigg County Sheriff’s deputies located her on Rocky Ridge Road. She was taken into custody on a warrant for the charge.

On the day before the arrest, state police had asked for the public’s help in locating Stewart in connection to the murder of Thelma Ilene Barnett on September 16th.

At this time, state police have not charged Stewart in connection with that murder.
