A traffic stop on East Princeton Street led to drug and weapons charges for a Crofton man Monday night.
Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Charlie Fiscella said he stopped 36-year-old Paul Edmonds after his vehicle crossed the center line. During the stop, Fiscella said he could smell marijuana and Edmonds told him he didn’t have a license.
Edmonds reportedly gave deputies consent to search his belongings and his vehicle.
In his pocket, deputies say they found marijuana, while in his vehicle they located a bank bag containing individually bagged marijuana, 8 grams of meth that was in individual containers, a scale, a pipe, and a box full of .22 ammunition. Edmonds allegedly admitted the items in the vehicle were his and asked if his passenger could go inside his home and get him underwear and a t-shirt.
Deputies followed the passenger into the home and could see a .22 caliber rifle, a handgun, and more marijuana in his room. Edmonds was asked to sign a consent to search his home and the items in his room were taken as evidence.
He is charged with trafficking in marijuana and meth along with possession of a handgun and firearm by a convicted felon.
