Man Charged With Murder of Texas Man Appears in Court

A Texas man charged with murder in connection to a single-vehicle wreck in LBL over the summer appeared in Trigg County Circuit Court Thursday afternoon.

Christopher Swykert appeared before Circuit Judge Woody Woodall, where another pretrial hearing was set for early next year.

Before the pretrial conference, Swykert’s attorney, William Deatherage, Jr., will be in touch with him to go over evidence turned over from the Commonwealth.

Swykert is charged with murder and DUI after state police reported he was southbound on The Trace and failed to navigate a curve. His vehicle ran off the road, causing it to overturn and crash into a tree. 19-year old Harry Daniel Kincaid of Houston, Texas, was killed in the crash. Kincaid was a soldier stationed at Fort Campbell.

Swykert remains lodged in the Christian County Jail.
