A Trigg County man charged in connection to the murder of a Muhlenberg County man appeared for arraignment in Trigg County Circuit Court Thursday afternoon.
A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of Montie Streeval of Cadiz by defense attorney Jason Pfeil. Circuit Judge Woody Woodall accepted that plea.
Judge Woodall added he would review a bond motion before Streeval returns for that pretrial hearing on January 13.
Kentucky State Police charged Streeval with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon in connection to Cameron Phillips’ death. The results of an autopsy revealed Phillips died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
State Police Detective David Dick said during a preliminary hearing, Streeval had picked up Phillips for an alleged drug deal and drove to Cadiz on July 28.
Phillips’ body was found in a wooded area near a cemetery on Old Rocky Point Road. Dick said Streeval was familiar with this area and had denied committing the crime.
Streeval remains lodged in the Christian County Jail.
