Kentucky’s Positivity Rate Highest Since June

Kentucky reached its highest COVID-19 positivity rate since June on Friday.

Governor Andy Beshear warned Kentuckians that this is the worst wave of COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. He urged the Commonwealth to follow recommendations to reduce the spread.

As of Friday, there are 2,302 new cases and 10 new deaths. New deaths include a 76-year-old man from Lyon County, a 92-year-old woman from Muhlenberg County, and a 38-year-old woman from Todd County.

The positivity rate is 6.77%. There are 1,153 in the hospital, 299 of those in the ICU. Of that number, 158 are on a ventilator.

Governor Beshear encouraged Kentuckians to take advantage of free COVID-19 testing.

In Trigg County, officials with the Pennyrile District Health Department confirmed seven new COVID-19 cases Friday. They include six females and one male between the ages of 34 and 74, and all are isolated at home. The county has 42 active cases, three hospitalized and has reported 276 total cases.
