Fredonia Man Charged After High-Speed Motorcycle Pursuit

A Fredonia man is facing multiple charges after a high-speed pursuit in Caldwell County Wednesday night.

Chief Deputy Chris Noel says a deputy was on routine patrol around 10:00 when he saw a motorcycle traveling the opposite direction and the driver, later identified as 45-year old Earl Wayne Cansler, failed to dim his headlights. When the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop Cansler accelerated with the motorcycle exceeding speeds of 115 mph. Neither Cansler nor his passenger were reportedly wearing helmets when they pulled in and stopped at his residence on State Route 70.

Deputy Kenneth Vincent arrested and charged Cansler with first-degree fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment of a police officer, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, speeding over 26 mph or greater, and other offenses.

Cansler was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
