2019 Trigg County Sheriff’s Office Audit Clean

Kentucky State Auditor Mike Harmon released Wednesday the audit of the 2019 financial statement of former Trigg County Sheriff Jason Barnes.

Harmon said state law requires the auditor to audit the accounts of each county sheriff annually.

He added no instances of noncompliance and no matters involving internal control over financial reporting and its operation that were considered material weaknesses were found.

The sheriff’s responsibilities include collecting property taxes, providing law enforcement, and performing services for the county fiscal court and courts of justice. The sheriff’s office is funded through statutory commissions and fees collected in conjunction with these duties.

The complete audit can be viewed here.
