Kentucky Surpasses 1,500 COVID-Linked Deaths

Governor Andy Beshear said the battle with COVID-19 would continue after the November General Election is over.

During his news conference Tuesday afternoon, the governor said that we are still at war with the virus regardless of who wins.

Beshear confirmed 1,795 cases Tuesday, which marks the fourth-highest single-day case total. He also said there were 11 deaths, raising the death toll to 1,503. The state’s positivity rate remained stable, at 6.24-percent. Beshear added 1,037 Kentuckians remain hospitalized with the virus, 279 in the ICU, and 116 are on ventilators.

During the news conference, Beshear was asked if there were any concerns about riots after the General Election wraps up in Kentucky.

He continued by saying the election changes need to be made into state law.

In Christian County, officials said 19 new cases were confirmed Tuesday. That brings the total case number to 2,101, with 302 deemed active. The county has reported 1,768 recoveries and 31 deaths since mid-March.
